i didn't see anyone mention fuel filters, if you did i'm sorry for repeating it. last year i bought the big brother to your 310, a 358, it was dogging out on the planter when i changed fuel filters wow what a difference it made. the previous owner apparenetly got ahold of some contaminated fuel. to add to the problem the local IH dealer only sells primary filters to use in both positions. it got to the point where i was changing filters every day, it was getting way too expensive to run this tractor, the dealer is 20 miles away so i checked with napa, they sold me a set with primary and secondary filters, problem solved, that same set is still on. one way i can tell if they are becoming plugged is to open the bleeder on the filer to the front, if it doesn't squirt fuel atleast 2 inches their's a problem. of course i makes a difference how much fuel is in the tank pushing on it, with more than 3/4 tank it should flow pretty good

Like KB said it is on the shutdown lever you would be safe at 1 1/2 turns out and move the cable adjustment . But ya need to fix the theromstat.a diesel should not let get below 165 degrees as it will not burn all the fuel and after time wash the walls down and ware things out faster.

I don"t reccomend doing it without a dyno, but it"s very easy. Look at the lever on the side of the pump that the fuel contol/shutoff cable is attached to. You"ll see a screw that limits how far forward that lever can move. The further forward the lever is, the more fuel you get. Turn the screw out and readjust the cable. I can"t tell you exactly how much to turn it, since I"ve never done it to a 706.

it smokes just a very tiny bit even lugging down to the point of having to stop and down shift going up hill in a high gear it seems to me not enough fuel but also i had this thing running for an hour and a half even took a few small rides and still didn't get up to 100'f coolant temp are they that cold blooded could that be some of the problem just not warm enough

Have you checked/replaced your thermostat? Also if you rebuilt your injectors and not your pump, the pump might be worn some and not generating the pressures needed to open the injectors fully. You could back out the fuel screw a 1/4 or 1/2 turn and see if it makes a difference. If it does back out some more but it would be good idea to hook it up to a dyno to make sure you don't turn it up to much. Your 706 is opposite from my 756 310. Mine smokes quite a bit at idle and when you pull open the throttle and at full throttle but the coolant warms right up to 160 or so in a few minutes.
