and plugs are in good shape.'

Did I listen?

No.

Plowing snow, slow, cold and lugging down a bit in spite of TA, #2 quit.

Well, if it had been a green tractor, I'd of been out of luck, but reds run okay on 3 of 4.

Finished up, limped home, prayed it wasn't a valve.

Went to TSC, got wires and plugs. Ordered cap
and rotor from NAPA.

Did wires and plugs, one at a time (#2 first)
to start with. Replaced them one at a time (hey,
I've been around the block at least once) to see if and when I added a miss-fire. Well, with each dirty old fouled plug (leaned out the mixture later) and floppy old wire that was covered from the paint job, she just
ran better. After all four, she purred.

Came back next day. Stone, ice-cold. Hit the
starter and barely turned over once before she caught and purred.

Old boys were right.

Cap and rotor came in. Re-arced the cap springs,
replaced the old cap, as cascades of green stuff came out of the old wire-holes, and things got even better.

Yep. Listen to the old boys. Get the ignition
in shape BEFORE winter.

Just started to miss out of the blue.

Knew it didn't need tuned up as it was just done 12 years ago, so I took 'er out, leaned her into the collar, tightened the tugs and blew the cobs out of it. Cleaned 'er right up.

However, I am gonna try to tune it before the decade is out. They won't run forever ya know. :>)

If you've got the time to be running up to your dad's and wastin' your time away on something as frivolous as tuning up an M that has "just been done" 38 years ago, it looks to me like you could certainly spare just a few minutes and build me one of those Harley/Ms that you are so famous for. Where are your priorities, anyway? :>)

Yep, know what ya mean. The guy that I bought this tractor from sent along the old plugs, just in case I might need ‘em. :>)

(However, I really do like the way you put those beefy Ms together!)

I'm old and have always been ugly (probably the reason why I'm anti-social) In addition, I've let myself go over the years and am totally run down; I even have to sneak up on the glass to get a drink of water.

The best word that would describe me is "pathetic". I went to a dance the other night and all the ladies laughed at me; thought it was just my overshoes on the dancefloor at first, but guess not, 'cause they were still pointing and snickering at me as I feel asleep under the table. Came home and the dog made me lick his hand, go figure. :>(

should put a tank heater in it so you dont get the plugs wet in the winter.

Regarding old plugs...mine were fouled, but good
enough to run through a plug cleaner to freshen
up. Suspect the fouling was from 1) rich mixture
and 2) feeble wires

On airplanes, we run plugs until the electrodes
are football-shaped. They're too expensive not
to clean and re-use.
