Disposal of oil filters????

The answer was, and your mileage may vary, that all household solid wastes are burned in a high temperature incinerator. They burn anything I discard, and at a high enough temperature that it would cause no significant pollution problems. He did say to *not* burn the filter in any other manner. The nasties it would give off would do more damage than just tossing it in the usual trash.

I don't know how your local disposal company handle your trash, but it appears that you do the least harm when you drain the filter and simply throw it in the trash. By the way, my local trash company takes my waste oil at no extra charge when I put it in a properly labled container and then dump it in my recycle basket. This makes disposal a breeze.
