First, thanks to Wolfman, Allan, David, Casey and KB for the input on this tractor. Now the question is what"s a IHC 766 worth?

It"s got 2800 hours, which is pretty low. It is not the black stripe, so I assume that means it is a little older. The paint is original, but I"d just as soon see original paint. It has a home-made but decent canopy/rops, and 1000# of front end weights. (With fluid in tires it must weigh 12500 already. Cant imagine having problems keeping the front end down.)

The starter ground the first time cranked, then it started. I"ve had something similar happen to me on my IH574. It has a slight radiator leak. The rear tires are 40 - 50%, even though it is advertised at 80%. I havent checked but I"d guess 34" tires would run $1000 ea?

Asking price is $8500 obo and it"s been around a while. Am I correct that somewhere in the $6500 to $7000 would be reasonable? Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Mark: From what you describe $7,500. would be tops if diesel, about $4,000. if gas. Then I'd knock another $1,000. for those 34" tires and wheels. 38" will make a tractor out of it.

i agree with KB826, 8500 is high based on the condition you have desribed but then again they are worth what you are willing to pay! when i was pricing 34's i think firestone field and road bias were in the $300 range each. i hope you can get that rig cause they are sweet! it sounds like you have a similar operation going as i do so it would serve you well. anything else i can help you with just hollar. good luck.

Sounds fairly decent. $8500 sounds a tiny bit high. If this tractor is at a dealership, have them run it on the dyno while you watch. Without hearing the starter, it's hard to say what's wrong, could just be that the starter drive overrunning clutch is slipping, could be the ring gear on the flywheel. You should be able to find 34" rubber anywhere between $600-$800, depending on the brand. Figure at least $100 to fix the radiator. I always kind of wonder about these old low houred tractors. It's at least 30 years old, at 2700 hours, that's only 90 hours a year, possible, but unusual. Since the canopy if homemade, it is not a ROPS. Do not expect it to offer any protection in the event of a rollover. Offer $7500 and see what happens.
