I was working on my super c today (got it all back together after doing the front main seal)Anyway the battery was dead and jumped it to start and ran it alittle while. It started to smoke and then it staled. The tractor does not normaly smoke (I'm also running a air cleaner of Farmall A so this must "choke" it since its smaller than the SC cleaner not sure if this is the problem??). I charged the battey and then it ran good again, no smoke and ran great. I was wondering if the battery was so weak that it did not have the power to charge the coil and thus a poor spark and poor combustion?? Thanks Andrew

Andrew I agree with cornfused---the generator will generate current and run the tractor with no battery at all once it has cranked--unlike an alternator that has to HAVE "fire" to alternate the current--Also unsure that the breather is to small for the tractor ---Think you had a totally different problem---GOOD LUCK BOOCHIE

Not true. With a coil you need to have a battery hooked up. If it has a magneto you could unhook the battery.

If it still has the generator on it it should have had enough from that to run it. I would think more of a piece of dirt stirred up in the carb passed through?
