I have found wide differences in the contents of IH application carb kits. The TISCO kit I used on my 300U had a minimum of gaskets,needle/seat,float pin, throttle shaft, packing and throttle plate screws.
I noticed that a BWD kit (should be the same as NAPA/Echlin as they are made by the same company) has more gaskets,no packing or throttle shaft (no screws either),but has mixture screws and a strange metal barrel item (maybe to plug the throttle shaft closed end?).So,you could buy 2 kits to really make a complete one.I bought the 2nd kit to have the spare gaskets plus to have and use the new mixture adjusting screws.
By the way...the TISCO kit did not come with the governor gasket.Thankfully I could reuse the old one as it was still in good shape.

Hi Paul, The way I see it is you pretty much get what you pay for. I sell a bunch of different kits. I have Basic,Complete Overhaul, Major overhaul, Each one come with a few different parts I have noticed over the years that the tractor supply kits the major one usally come with everything I dont know who makes them. The packing nut barrell thing did not come with my last complete M kit either.A good major overhaul kit will usally run about $60.00 at the dealers after market about half of that price usally but Like I say you get what you pay for. When it comes to throttle shafts if its plastic I throw it away specially if I have a brass one already in the carb. JON

I believe Tisco sells a "basic" and a "complete" kit. You didn't get the basic one did you ? The kits I get at NAPA seem to be complete. The last two from Tisco had oval-shaped choke butterflies, among other problems. Needless to say I won't buy them anymore.

I think the barrel thing you have is the packing for the main metering jet. It is very soft metal of some sort. You have to dig the old out if you think it needs to be replaced. I have had good luck with CIH kits. Except they no longer sell a kit for my 460, so I ordered the parts I thought I needed.

Well,I consider the TISCO AND the BWD kits combined "complete".Shame it takes 2 to get all the parts, but I guess not every brand plays by the same rules.
From what I notice, the new throttle shaft is required at least once in the life of a carb. With the new shaft,I can get the Ute to idle down to approx 300rpm smoothly! (I set it to 800rpm later) Obviously there was some slop and air leakage in the old one.Be aware the new TISCO shaft had some burrs where the slot is cut for the throttle plate and it would not fit in all the way. Some sandpaper got it to fit smoothly.
