I just got an M precleaner in pretty good cond, thanks Ebay. The glass jar has surface rust!
I tried washing it in the sink, no good, put it in the dish wahser, nope still the brown stain! I tried soft scrub and also tried soaking it in vinegar. All no help.

Any Ideas on how to get this rusty looking but nice square pint jar clean?

Also, anyone know how much the precleaner option cost back in 44?

Thanks
Jon

Use CLR. You can buy it at the hardware store.

Thanks,
Mark

Muratic Acid will take the rust right off your jar. Sold in every Hardware Store I've been in.

GOOD LUCK

Go to your local drug store and ask for OXALIC ACID. This chemical is in powder form and comes in a small container for around $6.00. Take a wet cloth and some of the powder, make it into a paste on the cloth and wipe on, let sit and in a few minutes wipe off. Oxalic acid is a known rust remover for laundry and other cleaning applications. Our cottage has iron in the water=rusty toilet. Other cottagers said we would have to live with it...Oxalic acid and we have the whitest , cleanest fixtures you will ever lay eyes on...good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario

Use a medium to fine grade of steel wool. It works quite well.

You will not find a new square jar in any store. The square shaped canning jars are obsolete.

I got all my square jars from eating Harry & Davids salsa. It's great stuff and comes in the correct square jar to fit your precleaner.
