That's pretty neat Allan. I've never run a 3 pt set up before but the first planting I ever did was with a 400 model pull type on 38 inch rows. Course dad would pull in the markers to make the odd rows about 28 inch so that made rotery hoeing and cultivating a real challlenge. Wish I had 1000 acres near you so you could get some time on the 966 and the cyclo. Enjoy the ride. Migraine

Oh, we'll get 'er.

Just not gonna run out and buy some akaline junk just because some ol' boy went broke tryin' to make it work and nothin' would grow. :>(

Just like everything else, ya know. I'm too darned picky. :>)

But, I'm having the time of my life since we decided to do this. Goals in life are a good thing.

Allan Now that is a darlin too. Very nice planter. That is like the one I learned on. Did you get the little momitor too? Our ol 400 had acra openers on it. Keep new wear edges on it on it and it will do fine.. Our 900 had double disk openers on it after 3 seasons od corn planting the disk had enough wear that problems started arising. bearings and mudding up inbetween the disk..Just my observation. Actually I think I liked the Acra-openers better, as far as trouble free operaation. though the disk openers made a sharper V to place the seed in, at least while new.
Later,
John A.

Hi John,

Well, this afternoon I get to looking this thing over and that is what is has on it; the Acra gizmos. It has been completely changed over; caught me off-gaurd there for awhile. Didn't know what I had bought.

These shoes were just coming on the market while I was busy going broke. Were supposed to be the latest and the greatest at that time.

They are all nice and sharp and the hopper still has treatment from last years seed.

Dunno, we'll see what develops. Thought for a minute there when Curt was unloading the thing that I was gonna havta buy a bunch of discs. Maybe not.

Gotta locate a 72 drop drum someplace now.

Hi Buddy!

That shall be fixed, ol' Pard. Promise ya that.

Not too wild about the fact that it doesn't have the disc openers like my old one did, but Curt bought it right and it won't take long for me to change out those shoes in a hurry too.

Hi Bill,

Snowed 4" here last night; and now is is melting like crazy! Mud everywhere and knee deep.

Colorado Curt should be here within 30 minutes with that darned Cyclo and I'm concerned how we're gonna unload that big, bulky gizmo in the mud.

So, haven't given the old 9 much thought this morning. Should be done, tho I would think. :>)

I'm tellin' ya, that Curt from Colorado is one smart puppy make no mistake about it! No wonder he is an engineer by trade.

He used these darned, Gawd-forsaken hills to his advantage; got clear up at the top of poverty hill here, put 'er in reverse and rolled back down til he was going at about 35mph.

Then, he stood on the brakes. She came right offia there, no problem! And here all this time I was worried about the mud. :>)

Hi Harley,

Aw heck. I'm over that; he was just doing his job and protectin' his own backside.

But boy, is it ever nice to have this gizmo back! Lots of work to do to it tho. :>(
