Boy, Dunno,

I'm guilty of cussin' CaseIH of takin' over MY tractor company. But here lately, I've fallen into the habit of just callin' the closest dealer and gettin' the parts drop-shipped in here.

Since it is only 100 miles away, UPS is always overnight and CaseIH always has what I need.

Row Marker bearings cost just $15 delivered in.

I'm thinkin' not too darned bad in today's world and maybe they aren't so darned bad after all.

Hey Allan. I'm into the local Case-IH dealer at least 3 or 4 times a week and really find this particular bunch competitive and 2 of the guys will really try hard to get me any part I need and at a decent price. If they know they are way out there on an item they write the part # down for me and tell me where to go find it. They will even call ahead for me at times to save me the running. Course the money I've spent in there the last six years probably I've helped them have pretty good sales years all by myself. Anyway I will keep on trying to revive the company till they start painting them orange or something!!

Allen,

I have found that if you give them a chance they not only have part, but a lot of times its cheater that any where else. They carry a lot of parts and you can save a little more if you can wait for a standand stock order instead putting in a special order when they don't have it. they usally hit you with a $5.oo surchange for that.

I've said it before and I will say it again, always give your Case-IH dealer the first chance, chances are 99 to 100% he will come through, and in a timely fashion.

Rusty: Also Allan and Jossette, It's been that way for well over 3/4 of a century, at least. I can remember my dad saying, that was the reason he bought the W4 in 1942. They had IH implements out of 1920s and could walk in for parts anytime. That has never changed, throughout IH of the early 80s and on to the Case buyout, and whoever has bought out whom since.

I always ask CaseIH first and have rarely been disappointed. I had bought some Case equipment back in the 1970s and found them just as prompt. I for one never expected much change on service and parts as a result of the merge. I was not disappointed.

Its no wonder there are so many vintage IH tractors still in use....not only the rugged build of the machines themselves, but the solid support of the manufacturer. Its sorta what led VW to great success in America(back in the 50s)....you dont send a product to the states without parts and dealer service to back it up....without parts, you wont get a repeat sale next time your ready to trade. Many small time players tried it the other way and paid the ultimate price for it.VW required each dealer to be able to assemble a complete car from parts stock. Not by actually doing it,but by proving they stocked every part needed. If they didnt, they could have lost their franchise.Unfortunately, that sorta thing doesnt happen anymore (what dealer has floorpans or frame rails??)..but if it did, wouldnt it be nice to walk in and have the ability to buy every part to build a new 300U?? (ha!).Lets just hope CASE/IH/CNH/FIAT keeps it up and keeps adding new/old/dead numbers back into the system.Their very future (as well as ours) depends on it.

The dealer where we got our 580SM backhoe has to look everything up on paper, another dealer the opposite way about the same distance knows what part your looking for and knows in minutes where you can get one or how long it will take if they actually don't have one. Same way with ford/nh and deere dealers too. Case construction parts are way cheaper than ford too, new windsheild was about $155(with the glue), last time we had our ford backhoe in the shop we told them put a new windsheild in it and they had one cut, said we would kick their (rearends) if we saw the pricetag on one from ford.
