Hi, I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on whether the 154 is a good tractor. I was thinking of buying one and I was wondering how reliable they are and how easy it is to get parts for them. Any info would be appreciated.

GOOD TRACTOR !PARTS ARE EASY TO GET IF YOU OWN A BANK. BUT JUST LIKE ALL GOOD THINGS COST .SO I GUESS YOIU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR . I LIVE ON A LIMITED INCOME SO SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT A WHILE TO GET MY REPAIRE PARTS. THEY ARE NOT HARD TO WORK ON IF YOU HAVE COMMON SENSE AND DON'T MIND GETTING DIRTY

I recently rebuilt one. had the engine rebuilt, new clutch , new wiring, radiator work, etc. it is a great little tractor for light work. I cut 5 acres of grass, haul a wagon things like that and its easy to maintain. parts are not a problem

The 154 is like a grown up cub cadet. Good for mowing but not built for much field work. Don't know aobut the reliability part.

What RAW said, except I'd say NO field work. Glorified lawn mower, great for large estates or mowing really smooth fields, hauling carts, maybe pushing a little snow, but not much else.

Engine is bullet-proof, but frame is stamped steel and clutch/transmission are very light-duty.

I have a lowboy that has a cast iron chassis. The engine is part of the chassis just like it's bigger brothers. It is definatley a lowboy, rear axles turned 90 degrees and shorter front spindles than the conventional cub. Looks the same as a cub except it is lower. What model is this?

What you have is a Cub-LoBoy, a derivative of the regular Cub. It is a forerunner of the 154 Cub Lo-Boy and a lot heavier built tractor.

I have a 1970 Lowboy 154 with an original IH 60" deck tractor is completly original and in excellent condition runs great paint is original and looks like it has about 2-3 seasons on it. But I need to find a motor starter-generator for it. hope someone has some idea how to get one. I do have the original owner's manuals for the tractor and deck. I got lucky the guy really took great care of the old tractor. He had just put it out for sale when I drove by. Sign read 2500 obo.
