pulled the plug on my 450 and it looked like chocolate milk.... would replacing the gaskets on top of the clutch/T A housing help?? and do the bolts in the top plate ( floor board ) go through into the case?

Most of the bolt holes do not enter the case -- although I have had the top off, I don't remember if any do. However, in theory, the ponded water in the recesses for the bolts may eventually make it's way past the gasket to the case, don't ask me to prove that. It can also enter thru the gearshift, as none of that is sealed. Few people do it, but IH recommended changing the fluid once a year -- that will eliminate the problem, or, if not, at least minimize it.

Hi Alfred,

By golly, you know, I'd just change the oil. Farmalls have kind of a nasty habit of doing just what you describe.

Don't know if it is condensation or leakage, but they all seem to do it and a guy will start noticing this after a few years.

Allan
