Have replaced 3 bushing , 3 seals and thrust bearing in the bolster and got it back together this morning. I also made a washer to reduce the up-down looseness in the pivot shaft. I reduced it from .090 to .014. This is the first time in years anyone has been able to drive this tractor in 5 th gear wide open . There is still a little wobble but is don't come back in the steering wheel. Maybe the flop is fixed for my lifetime. Thanks for all the internet help, Robert

Robert you might make that better yet if you have a full warm gear. The first gears were half and you could not trun them, but if you have full gear you don't have to turn it 180 degrees. just pick the best teeth for straight a head for the road. When going slower and truning the warn teeth will not make much difference. Regardless of what has been said about the shim plate if put in with thin part to the front and set the wheels forward it will help stop the shimmy. Did it many times years ago, the rest has to be good it helped 40 years ago don't think the tractor knows the difference between 1950's - 60's or 2005.

I had a good picture from a I and T manual and read and reread all the comments in the archives from this discussion forum. The parts were available from Hoober's IH dealership. Need to make bushing drivers on woodlathe. Give it a try. Robert
