Allan, I really think the previous owner somehow knew that eventually you would own the tractor, and he just wanted to test your mechanical skills. Right about now that old guy is probably chuckling to himself and wondering if you will ever find the really hidden jerry-rigged stuff. LOL

In the heat of the battle anything goes I guess. I've even seen a 20 penny nail stuck in them. I did use the two roll pin inside each other on my 966 a while back really tightened it up and shifts like butter. Keep looking under there and you may find a gold nugget or two that splattered up there from ages past. migraine

I'm working myself right out of a job. A little more head scratchin' on that seat release and then I think the old rascal needs to go back outside where it belongs.

Nothin' else to do to it. :>(

Drat!

Allen why not use 2 roll pins 1 inside the other then you have a real tight fit and stronger. I use to do that all the time when I worked on the Red.

Allen,

While you're in there, I'd suggest that you put a hose clamp around the coupling with that roll pin. On my 966 the pin once worked out enough to prevent the shifter from working in all the gears. Hose clamp prevented that from happening again.

Hey buddy, did you ever get enough money back into your wallet to level that seat up? Wouldn't want you going down the row always thinking you were on a sidling hill like down here. :-) Harley

Well,

Darned lucky thing it didn't take any money. The throw was just over center on that one side. I've still got an issue of it not wanted to come on down to that bottom catch of the 5-way. Working on that now.

Got the light mounted, Neutral/Safety switch, hydraulic indicator and all dash lights fixed, fuel gauge and the shifter.

Just about ready to wrap 'er up when I get this goofy seat thingy figured out. :>(

Allen still gotta ask why not use origanal flashers, and in your picture looks like the field light not centered in housing. Looks good though

Hi Dave,

Aw heck, this thing hasn't been original since '76.

It used to have a hang-on cab, which we removed and then just started in scrounging parts. Platform inserts are angle iron and the left fender is from downtown Tokyo.

The nearest IH dealer is 100 miles away and the tractor supply is right here, so I just grab where I can.

Nope, I didn't get the lens square with the world either, but both the field lite and the road lite work as they should.

Gonna grab some orange reflectors and hydraulic port boots from the tractor supply tomorrow.

Just wish I could figure out why this darned seat won't drop down into the lowest jaw. Got me scratchin' my head on this one, that's for sure.

Allan,

Allen, dad put a Year-A-Round cab on my 766 in 1976/1977 when he and mom divorced so I could ride with him (I a little tike), then when I got older and wanted to junk that #*#**** cab he wouldn't let thought it was a rops but wasn't when local IH salesman told the truth by by cab, and I'm still working on restoring the old girl back to all International equipment hoping to get her painted real soon. Just love seeing freshly painted 66 series or even in work clothes

Yep,

Had a Year-a-Round on my first 9. Twenty three years later, my ears are still ringin'.

However, in truthfulness, they aren't the quietest thing out in the open either. When I roaded it home from town the other day, which is about 12 miles, I forgot about the ear protectors. So,my ears rang all afternoon til suppertime. :>(
