The tractor has a wide front end with a loader, there is a tooth missing on the reverse gear and the park brake is being repaired now, The rear tires are about 40%, and it has a gas engine that was rebuilt around 1986 and it seems to run good and doesn't smoke. His bottom dollar is 3000.00, is it worth it?

If the present owner makes the repairs first then $3,000 isn't too bad. I wouldn't pay that for the tractor in it's present condition

Fixen the park paw ain't nothing but fixen the gear now that take some handy work and a lot off bull work and the job's not done till that is fixed . and if you end up doing the work well that is one thing but if ya have it done then ya better dig deep cause it is going to cost some schekels . This happens when one dropes the park while still moving . But for 3 large with a loader is not to bad and leaves some room to fix and still be ok .

Walk away from it. This tractor could turn into a money pit.

Darn, I was hopin somebody would say "it's no big deal, run it with a broke tooth if the click-click in reverse doesn't bother ya". If it is to be fixed if would be by me, and all those gears are over my head. one other thing is that it's next door to me and there would be no haul bill.

i have a 706G that i bought two years ago. i paid $5200. it has 11000hrs on it. has a IH2000 loader and a grapple and cab came with it, not mounted though. i get home only to find out the t/a is shot, tooth broke off in reverse amongst other things. it only clicks in 3 or 4 reverse, never in 1 or 2. i never use 3 or 4 so no big deal. before i bought it i stomped hard on the brakes with the t/a pulled and it killed so i thought i was good, wrong! then that winter the head gasket blew. i guess i'm just a sucker for 706's. i love them to death and am trying to find one with a 310 german now. despite all my bad luck i still love it and wouldn't get rid of it for nothing. i say buy it. i don't think you'll be sorry no matter what you have to do to it.

Well one thing for sure it won't fix it's self and in time it will get worse and yea i know someone is going to say mine has been that way for years and it is fine but what happens if the tractor is parked on a hill and that tooth that it is engauged is almost broke thru and it breaks and the tractor runs off and runs over some littel kid or across the road and hit a car or runs over you . I had one jump out of park on me and that will wake you up now if i get one that has not been changed over to the spring loaded one it gets it and if i have a clicker then it gets fixed . There are enough people that get hurt on tractors every year because of this or that so why add to the list.
