was alot of fun loading and unloading it. Yep, 2 a side, even some sort of loader frame is on it. Oil in the engine, and rear end dont look cooked, cap was over the exhaust when I found it. Carb and intake got heated up, Kinda expect that in a case like this. Carb is savable, along with the intake. Im looking around the shop to see if I got enough parts to put it back together. I have a gas tank, and radiator already, and going to replace the water pump as well. It had the thin headlights, and one on the rear too. Im not scared at all to have to fix what ever I find wrong with the ol Super M. Its like finding the big brother always been searching for,,,, and with a my 53 Super H Ive had since I was well,,,, darn, that long ago,,, its a good pair to keep around. Had to move the MM ZAU out of the way to fit the SM in the shed. LOL!!! Heard you had your Super M out running for the first time this year! Hows it running? ChadS

She fired up pretty good but I dont think she is running to smooth. I checked the plugs and points and put my new Tap through the exuast manifold, Hope to have her ready for the first pull shortly.I am going to stick to the stock farm class this year she is getting a little tired.I also have jumper wired the balast resistor I guess I will have to go get one of them at the parts place to. Yeah,,, points,,, burn em if ya got em. Probably too much spark trying to go through the point contacts causing a miss. Super M's are pretty good low gear pullers. Quite a few real tough Super series Farmalls round here. How tired is tired? how low is the compression in the engine? Chad

Oh I dont know she has the rockit govener and 4" IH fire crators. But its been about 6 years on the rebuils I would say in pullers terms she has made about 100+ runs on the sled.. I have not done a compression test but at the last pull i pulled the middle class and all the Ms bored with no sleeves would walk right down the track in 2nd gear and I just could not keep up with them. So I guess I lower the draw Bar and pull the stock class. Low gear only, Stock Tires, 10% over RPMs,18" draw Bar I beleve. We will see how she does in this class with all the old timers pulling there old farm tractors.A few olivers to recon with though. JON

Id say its still pretty good. I have an extra set of 4-1/8th overbore pistons and sleeves for a 450,,,,, firecraters,,,,, mite make you one heck of a deal on them. they are used but, the pistons are in good shape. Would be a cheap HP increase, maybe 5 or 7 hp,,, takes it from a 264, to a 281. Like i said, there is lots of very tough "farm stock" M,s Super M's MTA's round here for low gear pullers. On average in our club, the everyday "farm stock" tractors are round 65-75 hp, and they run real good. Im not one for tearing up a good engine to jump classes, usually downsize ya know,,,, drop back a class. Nothing wrong with that, just have to keep your tractor in a class it can compete in. Keep it stock, keep it running good, and just go have fun with it. may not be 12 hours on a plow,, but its bout 30-45 seconds, of the most fun you can have, on an old tractor. run a compression test on the old SM!! Mite be some hidden power in there somewhere that can help you out,,,,, ,,,,, theres always something hiding,, in hp, if you know where to look. and, keep the farm, in farm stock. that 450 in the background,,,, 87 hp,, M&W stroker crank spec, 4-1/8th bore. it has some real good torque for a puller. "farm stock puller" that is,,,, Have a good day,,, good luck! Chad

Yes Chad Gotch Ya on that,Right now I would love to go to 4 and 1/8 but every penny I have is going in to this H motor. I was able to pick up a real nice C169 Cam shaft on ebay last week for her. So I guess I am all set there I got about $50.00 into the cam and gear. And dont know where the next penny is coming from for the next set of parts. I would love to get the pistons from you for that but am waiting for some extra cash for those parts. Right now I have got the block and head checked and cleaned, and crank turned 0.20 under and the cam bearings installed and cam bought. Got a long ways to go . It might just take a year or two to complete with the money situation. OH WELL You do what you can. Have Fun with your Super I am going to try and post a pic of my family shortly. JON

Nice!!! the question of tires is that it needs some.
No paint to remove!!!. Looks like a better starting point than a greasy bent bad rubber stuck engined hunk that many start with.
Great find/good eye.

Ive got the sandblaster, duct tape, and a whole tool box waiting! Bad part is the rusty bolts, most are comming right apart, but I dread the front grille, and the gas tank mounting bolts. Thinking of GoodYear 14.9X38 tires. 6.00X16 on the front. It was the Super emblem on the grille that caught my eye,,, there was 3 other M's sitting close by, and I walked rite past them. I went to a sale last weekend, seen a junker M, parts, was beyond recognition, all sitting next to it, brought 1350!!!!! Seen that, and left the sale. last year this time,, I got a 49 oliver 88 out of some guys front lawn that had sat there sine 1985, (Super M was in better shape) But, still see a tractor,, pick it up,,, cant have too many. I just love old tractors. A little voice in my head, says,, "I can fix that!" Chad

Hope you have better luck then I did. I restored a Super H that looked just like yours (burnt). I got to replace every bearing, seal, gasket, hose, even radiator, as it melted some of the solder. Been offered burnt tractors since then, I wouldn't touch another one with a ten foot pole!!!!! Oh yeah took alot of temper out of the gears, could go on for quite a while, but you'll figure it out. My condolences!!

Yeah, fire victims,,, well,,, you can take the chance, or, not. I like it cause it is a Super series. If it had been an old M,, like I said, walked rite by em, Supers, as I call em, I like em, I have 3 Super H's and now this Super M, maybe one day, a SMTA will cross my path in parts and pieces, Just like how I like to find them, Hate to see a Super M that straight, not be able to be repaired, and put right back up to snuff. Just like that Super H you have,,,, after going through them front to back, top to bottom, you know you have something, after its been fixed,, at least 4 or 5 times,,,, LOL, Chad

Yeah, will do sir! Its a super for sure, 264 casting on the block, and disk brakes, and not the aftermarket style either. Still getting taken apart, its a slow process, but ran a compression test, 165psi, and it does have fire craters for sure, and a 8574 head on it. Head has to be the same as the 400-450 heads just cause it has firecraters in it. Old M heads hit firecraters,,,,, Got the carb and manifold apart, and sand blasted, putting that back on this weekend, Id like to hear it run, makes the work go faster seems,,,,, already put front tires on it, and working on the rears, 14.9's. Chad
