I have acquired a used (but tested like new) hydraulic pump for my 300U.....seems mine is rather low on pressure (50 years old of course and never removed)and its SLOW at the loader.
I plan on changing it out tomorrow if possible.Any surprises I may run into? I need to reuse my current gear because the other pumps gear is damaged at the keyway and is sloppy back/forth.

I found the previous owner (or mechanic) had overtightened the bolts attaching the lines to the pump and stripped out the threads in the pump housing. I had to install heli-coils, not a big job, but could have been avoided if the other fellow hadn't stripped them out. There are O-rings to seal it, so you don't have to overtighten them for a good seal. Housing is aluminum.

Got the old pump out,and had to swap over the gears from one to another, and then installed the "new" old one.I was surprised to see the gasket was loose and in good shape so I reused that.Had a bit of a time lining up the bolts for the manifold pipes (had to loosen the pump again before retightening it).But its in,doesnt leak and seems to have consistent good flow.Unlike the other one that was very "jerky".I did find the rear seal (at the distributor housing base)was seeping and milky hydraulic fluid was dribbling out...so this may be where the air was entering the system). It now makes zero whine and seems to be what the Dr ordered. The Fast Hitch still wont lift the rear off the ground...but maybe its because it has loaded tires(I think)? I do notice faster response from the Fast Hitch with a 55 gal weight drum than before.Hope it lasts a long time!
