Mornin',

There is a sweet lookin' ol' IH966 tractor for sale on ebay if anyone is looking for one.

Guy says she is straight and the T/A is good; it's right outta the field. Only downside is that it has 34" wheels.

No, I'm not connected to it in any way. Just thought someone might be needing a Farmall.

Never seen one with a cab and the fenders left on it. How did they do that, My 1466 cab looks nothing like that but mine came out factory with the cab and I don"t think it looks bad at all.

not a bad price if mech sound. Person I rent some equip from just picked up a 1586 for $8000. Popped right off at 10 deg when they first looked at it. They painted it and redid a little in the cab and added duals. I could not beleive how sweet of a tractor they got for the price. I am still looking. Drove past that 15 hundreds of time and never once thought the old guy would let it go so cheap.

The first thing I would do if I got this one is throw away the cab. Those after market cabs don't do anything for the looks of a tractor. My personal feelings are that any series from 66' and earlier just look better without a cab but if I needed a cab I would go to an 86' series and newer.

Hi JJ,

Yep, I agree, although I think that the factory cabs were a little better.

I did just like this feller did back in the seventies and bought one of those Year-Round cabs and had the dealer mount it. I was sorry from the very first day. Should have left the gizmo at his back lot.

That's why I just got done throwin' this one away also.

I was going to comment on the noise these cabs hold and create but P Backus beat me to it. I can laugh about it now, there was a customer complaining about some grinding or grouling noise on his 856 I think it was and when I test drove it all it was was the stupid old cab was cracked and broken in so many places and thats what was causing the noise. Here he thought the rear end or axle bearings were out. Made a few welds and patched it up and it was a quiet as an opera singer with a belly ache.

I agree with all the sentiments on the aftermarket cabs. I have one on my "brand X" tractor, and every time I think about taking it off, I end up planting with it at night when it's 35 degrees, or pulling loads in late November. Talk about loud though! It would be quieter with a stereo system pumping in engine and gear noise!

nice rig, sure you don't need another? one for the cultivator and one for the planter to follow right behind? you can never have too many tractors, right?

i'm just hanging out and being patient till i can get my hands on a 1086, then i can tear the cab off the 706 and have a "nice" tractor again.
