The coil looks beat up and pretty darn old, So I guess i'll go out tomorrow and bite the bullet. I told the wife this would be an expense-free hobby (I can hear the collective laughter from the forum...). So how long do we expect to get from coils?? A few years? 20 years? So often I find poeple saying to just replace something, too bad not everything on a tractor could be repaired.

I'll post the results. thanks.
Tom

If it fires right back up, it ain't the coil. Coils overheat and need to cool off for several minutes before the tractor will fire again.

Just because the carb was clean when you assembled it doesn't mean that it didn't suck a bunch of crap out of the tank and clog up again.
