This might have been asked before,but I'm not aware of it..... What is your favorite IH/Farmall/McCormick-Deering model? And why?
What sets it apart from other similar,non-IH brands?

I'm partial to the Utes,for a number of reasons...their ease of getting on/off of,their ability to accept many attachments,their lower center of gravity,and rugged styling.I'm not a fan of their poor traction,and their weak-link steering systems.
In comparison with my 2nd choice,The Ford N tractors,the Utes are heavier,more powerful,and offer features Ford never thought of (TA,Fast Hitch..etc).For a tractor that is asked to do most everything,not much could beat a Utility,and the classic style of the 300/330/350 far surpasses the square box look of the newer 59-up Utes in my opinion.1955-1958 were seemingly magical years.

As I have stated before, the rice tractors; the McCormick WR or WDR-9, are my all time favorite IHC tractors. However they are too big to be practical collector tractors. So for a practical size collector tractor I would go with Farmall M. For a more modern working tractor I think the Farmall 806 or Farmall 1206 would be my first choice.

Farmall 400 row crop. Uncle owns one and are they fun to drive. Plus a Farmall 806(wide front)

I have some IH's and JD's and the 300 U is my favorite. Our neighbour, when I grew up had a new one, and I couldn't wait for one of my own. I7 years ago A jockey picked one up for me, we poured some $ into it with the intention of having a parade tractor, not, it gets used every day.
2nd favorite, WD6, I just love the smell of those engines when you turn on the diesel.

My favorite is my 684 with a 2250 loader its been great, real handy and easy to run. I also have a Farmall M that I have been working on the last few months its looking pretty good. I have a JD 60 that my dad and I restored a few years ago, I think the M is easier to operate than the JD but I still like the sound of the old two cylinders.Grew up with them.

Farmall A, B, C, H, M. They run smoother, operate better and easier and are more dependable than the two bangers.

We are talkin the good ole stuff here ain't we.

I agree but I'd leave off the B & C. Not because they aren't good but because I never used one. I have an H at present & it is my favorite. However, I'd also like an A & a M. Just haven't convince the wife that I need more tractors.

Even rusty H is beautiful. That's how I remember them from close to 50 years ago.

Like the old question "Who are your favorite football teams"? Ans. Green Bay and whoever is playing Minneasota, I'd have to say...

Farmall 400 and any "Ute" or "WD" owner who just bought a real tractor.

Well Gordon,

The young lad is proud of his utility tractor; sure nothing wrong with that.

I could never figure out their purpose in life either, but maybe they were used around town or something? Think I've only laid eyes on one my entire life.

Sure don't know what purpose they would serve in this country other than maybe mowin' chores?? Maybe the state used 'em to keep the roadsides mowed?

They can be loaders,forklifts,post hole diggers,backhoes,mowers,trenchers and so much more.If one had a Utility and a number of attachments at the ready,there's almost nothing they couldnt do.And today,at bargain prices too.
