Looked at a 460U today that had no power steering. Don't know if it is the pump, the control, or the steering box. If I buy this thing what kind of trouble will I be getting into? (I am not talking about with the wife, I already know about that trouble!) I say the post below about the steering box repair being real expensive. How can I tell where the problem point is?

We need more info on the problem with box. I've seen used ones sell for up to $700. That's pretty steep. I doubt if Bates sell many of their rebuilt boxes for $1100. Yours may be repairable relatively cheap, depending on exactly what's wrong with it.

I would think that total replacement any of those components should not exceed $300 each with good used units. Probably $500 would get all of them

Explain what you mean by no power steering? Does the steering work, but just no power assist? Does the rest of the hydraulics work? Is there oil pouring out of it anywhere?

The steering works, just no power assist. The hydaulics all work for the loader and 2-point. I am pretty sure that the PS works off a seperate pump, so that could be bad. There is a small hydraulic leak coming between the two control blocks for the loader. Thaat should be fixed with a new o-ring.
