Can anyone tell me how to recharge a magneto magnet that is for a Farmall F-20? Mine seem to be very weak. If there is no practical way to do it with other magnets, is there someplace to send it off to have it done? I would like to learn something about the process, so if anyone knows of a source of information I would appreciate that also. Thanks in advance

In one of my mag books it says your not supposed to remove the rotor from the housing because it will lose magnetism. That means you should only remove it to an iron sleeve that goes over top and preserves the field.I have the book about tha recharger from Lindsay books but have not made one yet.It seems like a good set of instructions. You need a copper wire that contains iron but a spplier is listed in the book.I know that on dragsters its standard procedure to recharge the magnets quite often.

Magman will probably jump in here, and maybe he can help.

Here's a link to plans for your own magnet charger:

I suspect there are better plans out there, and probably worse ones, but these are often referred to.

Also, there are lots of mag repair places... Magneeders, Bill Lopoulos, etc., to name a few.

Yep thats about the only thing you can do is make a charger from the plans supplyed. But I believe Bill Lopoulos will recharge them for free as you have to do is ship it to him and probly give him money to return. That WWW.MAGNETOPARTS.COM I deal mainly in H4 and J4s and the internal rotor is the magnet and rarley ever needs charging.
