Can the bottom plate of the oil pump on a Super C be removed without taking off the oil pump? In this way, I could "flatten" it back out, put on new gasket and go, without removing the pump, if it is possible, that is. Thanks, Cmore

I have to agree with Jay. I know that I’d like to check out the rest of the pump, relief spring etc while I had the pan off. You might even want to shake the rods a bit to make sure you don’t have some real excessive clearance in a rod bearing. (I’m presuming that the reason you pulled the pan is that you had low oil pressure.) While you’re in there you might want to check out the crankshaft bearings too.

Sure it can, but why would you want to? I would strongly recommend taking it out, examining it and REPLACING the pressure spring. Seriously, it's going to take an extra 5 minutes to take it out.
