H Wiring: Generator / Regulator

I have a 1942 H. 6-volt, positive ground system. Generator is not charging. The wiring box has a 4-position switch (L-H-D-B). The generator has a black box mounted above it that I think is a regulator. This regulator has 4 terminals. Three occur next to each other and stick out from the side and include F, BAT, and L. The fourth terminal is underneath the box and appears to be unmarked. I am assuming this is "GEN". I have the tractor and lights wired and running, but I am not getting any charge (only discharge -- especially when I turn on the lights). I also suspect that I have a drain on the battery even when tractor and lights aren't running. I cleaned up the commutator and all three brushes are in contact with the commutator. I also re-polarized the generator by touching the BAT on the regulator to the A on the generator. Still nothing. I have not cleaned the various wire terminals inside the generator (just the A and F on the top).

I am not entirely convinced that I have the thing wired correctly and want to be before I take the generator and regulator to a repair shop. I can't find a diagram of a wire box that matches my tractor. The one in my service manual (newer reprint) has a fuse housing between the ammeter and the light switch, whereas mine has a fuse built right into the light switch. Bob Mellville's wire box diagram also shows a separate fuse housing.

The way I have it wired now is ammeter (neg. terminal) to "BAT" on regulator. F on regulator to F on the generator. "GEN" on regulator to A on generator, and L on regulator to the fuse. However, I have three wires attached to the ammeter's positive terminal, and this definitely doesn't match the way Bob Mellville has it. Can anybody help me from this haphazzard description?

Take the cover off the voltage regulator and clean the points on the regualtor and cut out.If the cutout is sticking it will drain the battery when not running.
