I have the chance to buy a super WDR-9 but don"t know if the guy is asking to much. Does anyone know roughly how many were made? There arn"t to many of them around here so I don"t know what they go for. It looks to be in good shape but hasn"t run and has been sittting out for 2 to 3 years. Thanks in advance.

I would say between 1200 and 2000 if the depending on paint, sheet metal, tires, general condition. Has it had a super hard life? Are there lots of extra welds on it? Will it turn over and start? I just paid 1500 for a 650D wheatland with hand clutch running and complete but a bit rough. Has a broken valve spring. Parts are pretty hard to come by for these tractors. If you like the looks of it and like it then buy it. You know they are not making any more of them. Thus eventually you will be able to get your investment back plus the years of pride and pleasure that come with owning a rare tractor.

BCG, Can you tell us what cond. the tractor is in? ie; is it locked up, tire and sheet metal cond., options it may have, etc. etc.. Also, what is the asking price? The weight is approx. 7300 lbs. Deisels can be very expensive to fix also, so keep that in mind if you are buying it without hearing it run. It would make a nice piece to add to your collection if thats what you are doing. Good luck. Andy {If you are close, I would be glad to come and look at it with you} I left my email address

There were a total of only about 6500 to 7000 Super WD-9 and Super WDR-9 tractors built. Only a small precentage of these were the Super WDR-9, no recored of what precentage as far as I know, I would guess well less than 1000, probably nearer to 500. Therefore a Super WDR-9 is a fairly rare tractor in the IHC line. Value depends on how bad you want it and how close to you it is located. It is not a small tractor. In field condition it probably weighs between 12,000 and 14,000 pounds so hauling needs to be considered. In my opinion, the letter series "Rice Field Special" tractors are the best looking tractors IHC ever built, but they are too big for many collections. Where are you or it located?

Advertised shipping weight of SWD-9 6700 lbs. Advertised shipping weight of SWDR-9 7030 lbs. Weight of SWD-9 as tested in Nebraska Test # 518 12,790 lbs. SWDR-9 would weigh about 330 more which would make it 13,120 lbs. equipped the same way as the SWD-9 that was tested.
