H to SH Clutch Question

I am rebuilding my '44 H, and sometime in the past my original flywheel was replaced with a Super H flywheel. I didn't figure this out until after having the flywheel balanced and re-surfaced and finally finding a friction disk that fit. Now everything is back together, and although I can adjust the clutch rod to get the 1 -1/8" free movement, I have almost no ability to adjust for wear, i.e., the rod is nearly as long as I can make it.

Does anyone know if the SH adjustment rod is longer and if it will fit an H? It sure would be cheaper to replace the rod than to get a new flywheel, etc, etc.

Slappy,Unless i have my mind in reverse,as clutch wears the rod will get shorter to keep same free play.

Something sounds fishy here. I�m presuming the machinist that refaced the flywheel took as much off the area that the pressure plate mounts to as he did where the friction disk sets. If not, here is why you are having issues.

Second, did you get a different pressure plate? If so, the fingers might not be adjusted correctly. If not, did you check the finger height on the old pressure plate before you installed it? If not, check this as some of your problem may be corrected if you replace the pins or need to adjust the fingers on the pressure plate.

Third, did you replace the throw-out bearing, and was it exactly the same dimensions as the old one?

Just some things to check that won�t cost you a lot of time or money.
