Is there a pressure gauge on the tractor?
The pump may have lost its prime. Needs to be checked before any use or you could severely damage the engine from lack of oil. Hal

You need to remove the allen head screw at the back left side of the engine block and add oil.
You also need to remove the oil filter cap and fill the housing and replace the top.

The oil pump on the Cubs are located on the flywheel end of the engine and is only accessible
by splitting the tractor. Don't run that engine
for long periods of time without oil pressure. The above procedure may have to be repeated.

The Cubs have this problem losing oil pressure if
the oil is changed and the above procedure should be used until oil pressure is obtained. Hal

oil pump is on back of the motor. you will need to pull motor it will be on the left side. before you get into the pump I would look in to the oil presure spring/adjustment. it is a big nut or bolt. it is under the dist./mag. Bill
ps are you sure the gage is working rite
