I'm going through my first tractor and hoping someone can tell me tell the the location of the hydraulic oil fill. The couplings were all leaking and I want to make sure it's topped off. On the same page, where would I drain the hyd. oil if I do a complete change? I'll be buyong my oil from F&F. Any particular type I should be looking for?

Thanks for any tips!

i just got done changing the hyd oil on both my 560s. the main drain plug is under the bottom of the differential housing, big pipe plug with square head. also, a smaller plug on belly in vicinity of hyd filter, and the third plug is slightly ahead of the second, takes a piece of 5/16" keystock to get it out. it holds 16 gallons to refill. any oil that meets the specs for ih will work. i'll probably get hammered for not saying hy-tran but i've had good results with other oil that meets the specs.

Congratulations. My first was a 560 also. The fill point is not obvious. On the operators platform there is a triangular plate where you fill at the base of the seat. There is a plug on the side of the tranny to check the level. You should get a manual. Another thing you will want to do is to adjust the clutch TA. Is yours a gas or diesel?

I recently changed my Hy-tran fluid in my 560. Make sure you are prepared for draining. You should be able to drain 15 gallons and your bucket will fill in no time flat. There are three separate plugs plus the filter cover where you will be able to drain off fluid. only do one plug at a time and make sure you replace each plug before going to the next plug or you will have a mess because the flow will be too fast for you to handle. I would do the filter cover on the right side of the transmission last. I also used IH Hy-tran fluid even though it is more expensive. You will develope some air pockets in the hydraulic and power steering lines which will purge themselves with useage. That sure is a nice looking tractor you have there and I know you will love it with that baler. It's the perfect tractor for that kind of work.
