Up-date on M stuck in reverse

The tractor will roll now but, the slide bar will not come back and line up with the others. As a matter of fact you can drive it in the other gears but not in 1st and reverse. Must be stuck in between or something. Thanks again!!

BKing...make sure you have all of them lined up before you take the cover off. I had a 450D do the same thing and I thought I had them all lined up.
An old farmer informed me I did not and he was right. That one for reverse and first is really over there and hard to see.
Give it one more look see before you tear it down.

It sounds like you have pushed the shifter rail far enough back (into Reverse) that the gear on the sliding shaft went past the one on the counter shaft. I don’t remember how long the shift rail is, but it may have gone far enough that the detent ball dropped into a spot that it shouldn’t have preventing the rail from moving back ahead.

It sounds like mechanical failure which will require removal of the transmission top cover.
