Need advice on Manifold

Hi, quick question, I"m trying to install a new manifold on my Farmall M engine and there seems to be no way to get a socket on several of the stud nuts. The center two have so little clearance that the nut itself rubs on the manifold casting. The old manifold had plenty of clearance, but obviously the new one is a slightly different casting. I had read in the archives that the aftermarket manifolds where pretty good for these tractors, so I"m a bit surpised at this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Dan

I spent a little time with a die grinder on mine. I have to use a wrench on some of the nuts, a socket won't even come close to fitting. One I had to stack washers under so the nut wouldn't be back as far.

Thanks for the quick response. I did some grinding and it went on ok. Still had to use the wrench on two of them. Too bad they don"t cast them the same shape as the original..plenty of clearance there!

I've heard and read several negative comments about the reproduction manifolds, but this is the first time I have heard of not enough room for the nuts. I would send it back and get a replacement, or better yet, if you can, get a refund. There are plenty of very good used manifolds available. Sorry to be so negative.
