There should be a plate on top of the shifter that looks like this: H 1 N 2 3 L R 4 The lettering is cast into the plate, so it's not like it could get rubbed off. Maybe it's missing off this tractor? When the shifter mechanism gets worn, the tractor can get stuck in two gears at once. Unless this tractor is REALLY weak, or you're trying to disk in road gear, I wonder if that's not the problem. Depending on the size of the disk, the tractor should be able to handle it in L3, L4, or H1. H2 is the fastest speed for field work. H3 and H4 are road gears. Put the tractor in 1st Neutral. Look down to the right of the steering column just below and in front of the deck. You'll see two plates with slots in them. The slots should be lined up so the park lock can be set. If they aren't, then it's still in gear. You should be able to push the errant plate back into position with something like a hitch pin or wrench.
