560 2 point lift height

Has anyone tried using a cylinder with a longer ram to get more height out of a fast hitch. The problem is when I use the 3 point adaptors it really doesn't lift the cultivator very high and when the crops get taller it will be a problem. With the fast hitch all the way up the clearance is only about 4 inches off the ground. It's just the front shovels that have poor clearance.

There is about a 5" difference between fast hitch and 3 pt lift. The IH fast hitch to 3 pt adapter had that built in. There are after market adapters called "high lift" arms that work for this. When I first hooked up the 3 pt cultivator with the 560 with the "straight lift" adapters just barely got it off the ground but could cultivate very deep.

Lance: People like to blame fast hitch, but any of the row crop tractors JD, Oliver, Cockshutt, MH, etc. built before these companies changed the configuration to mounting and dismounting ahead of rear wheel, these tractors were no better. The real problem lies with operators platform being in the way. Any mounted implement I've seen moves foreward as it raises, doesn't matter whether it be fast hitch or 3 point hitch.

You've had a couple of good suggestions, turned up adapters from FH to 3PH. Shortening your lift links. Those 16.9 tires your going to install will help very much, rear of tractor is going to sit about 3" higher.

This is one of the items I mentioned last evening on the advantage of tractors like 656, 666, 706, etc., the platform was moved ahead out of way, thus allowing good hitch function. My 656 would carry most implements 2' off the ground. Plow was the one I used most, 5x16 semi mount. Great to have that clearence.

I'm not absolutely certain of this, but...

Isn't there an adjuster that lifts and lowers the entire fast hitch assembly and is mostly used for leveling the entire "plane" of the fast hitch for plowing depths? Wouldn't this allow for a higher starting point for lift clearance?

This adjuster would look like a flat bar with notches and would have a hand hold loop welded to its top. Located near the axle and on the left side of the fast hitch assembly.

The mechanism is designed for the stock size cylinder, and that size cylinder only. If you put a longer cylinder in there, it won't lower all the way anymore, and it'll push the linkages up beyond where they're supposed to go. You'll be lucky if you only bend something, but my money's on tearing the hitch up.

what size tires do you have? I have the same problem but I have 16.9x34 tires there was a post about using a ram instead of the top link and they said it worked very well.

Lance, common problem with the Fasthitch. You can buy prongs that are offset pointing up to help with that problem. If you need more height, replace the left duckhead assembly with the adjustable one like you have on the right. That way when you need more lift, shorten both sides.
