You should put that teaspoon of gas into each cylinder and see if it tries to start. Was that distributor ever removed lately? Hal

PS: Make sure all your plug wires are hooked up
from the cap to the plugs. 1-3-4-2 as you look
at the distributor cap CW. Your compression could be low too from worn rings, sleeves or valves not seating. This is where you obtain
your intake manifold vacuum to pull that atomized
fuel into the combustion chamber.

Yes i do have fire going throught the plugs and it has been converted to a 12 volt system. Hope this helps.

Has this M been converted over to a 12 volt system? I think my brother had to replace a diode or resister or some other electrical componet to get his M going.

You're probably referring to the ballast resistor
that was used to drop the voltage. They were known to go bad. Used on speed boats too. Hal

Do you have fire through the plugs? Remove a plug and see if the plug is firing by grounding
the plug against the engine block with the wire attached. Have someone crank over the enine with
the ignition switch on. Make sure tractor is in neutral with the brakes set.

If the engine fires after putting fresh gas in each cylinder as Wayne has suggested, you're not getting fuel. Make sure your plug wires are in the correct firing order. 1-3-4-2 CW on the rotor. Hal

Is the gasoline old?
Try some fresh fuel; remove the spark plugs & put a teaspoon in each hole. Replace the plugs & try to start the engine.

Three things needed to run an engine: 1. burnable fuel mixture (fresh gas, proper ratio)
2. decent compression(plus correct valve timing)
3. strong spark at the right time (snappy, blue spark jumps 1/4" gap)

Just determine which of the 3 is not correct.

Many of us find that whatever we did last is a clue to why something doesn't work. If Wayne's comments don't lead to success your next post might provide a history that would spark an idea. If you just acquired the machine of course the puzzle is a little more complex. My nickel Dick Davis
