clutch dragging on 686

I just finished putting the tractor together today after splitting it to replace the PTO driven gear (the bolt lossened and the teeth chipped). Now that it is together, the clutch doesn't seem to be completely disengaged. The gears grind alot more than before I split it. It has a new clutch two years ago. I went throught the IH clutch adjustment procedure and it didn't change any. It is quiet with the clutch in or out, it just seems to drag. Any ideas? Thanks

the output shaft going from the clutch to the tranny has a coupling on ii on the tranny end, that can get worn and cause the shaft to ride too hard against the flywheel and that will cause it.

A couple things that I've run across with this symptom is the clutch plate is starting to ride on the heads of the flywheel bolts and the other is the splines of the input shaft have a wear spot from the clutch disc and don't slide back in when released. Maybe just not getting the splines back in the same exact place they were before the split could be causing the problem to.
