You could replace those steel hydraulic lines with
high pressure hose and would be easier to work with. Any auto parts store that has Alemite,
Weatherhead or Aeroquip hose can fabricate a replacement hydraulic line. Our local auto store
has been making them for years. We bought the hose and made our own hoses and we bought the
replacement end fittings too. The Air Force
has used high pressure hose for years in their planes. Nothing cheap is used on those planes.
You need a vise and a few wrenches to make up a hose. Hal

Those would be called Reusable Fittings, and Gates sells them too.I've seen some of those slide off on occasion too.Great for emergency hose repair.

Hi Paul, Go to www.aeroquip.com/ and look over their hoses. They are the high pressure hoses. Hal

I'm not talking about those barbed type push on fittings for high pressure applications. They were only used for low pressure and we used a lot of them. Good for 250 lbs of working pressure.

The high pressure fittings were in two pieces. The hex hose fitting screwed on the hose and the
swivel nut and the center piece that had the flared seat were installed into the hose fitting
by screwing another tube fitting into the swivel nut. This locked the 2 pieces together and after installing the swivel nut you removed the fitting that locked them together. Single braided hose good for 2500-3000 psi and double braided good for 5000 psi. Easy to work with. Hal

Yes,those are the reusable fittings.2 piece, screw together, emergency reapir out in the field. They do work, but I would rather not take the chance they would come un-done.The barbed, brass fittings are "Lock On" fittings. The barbs have a knife edge that goes one way,so they go on easy but dont try to pull them off! Used with LOC hose (Gates) and LOLA hose.No wire in those.Strictly return line stuff (or gas/diesel lines).
