On the add on 2 speed overdrive the input shaft has a 6 spline 1 3/8" shaft. My original input shaft has a keyway. Does the F-14 input shaft use a keyway or a 6 spline? Does anyone have a idea on what I could use as a input connector for this? I am hoping one of You has been through this and found a solution. Thanks!

My guess is that the yoke you need came with the overdive and was mad by hysler. I think it should be the same on a F12 or F14 unit. Having one made may be your only option.

I had to have one fabicated for my F-12. I took a 1 3/8 6 spline coupler and my original yoke to a machine shop friend.

I have a F12 with a hysler overdrive in it. I did not install it but have heard some stories from the oldtimers looking it over. I believe the transmission input shaft with the bevel gear on it and the bearing quill it mounts in are removed and the overdrive unit bolts to the front of the transmission in place of the bearing quill. The overdrive has its own bevel gear. There is only one of the flex couplers left in the drive shaft in front of the overdrive. The bevel gear is diffrent between the F12 and F14, it may have hielical cut teeth on the F14 unit.

I installed a Hysler overdrive in a 37 F-12, about 50 years ago. The front gear and input shaft came out of the tractor, and the overdrive bolted into its place. I believe there was some shims supplied to get the bevel gears set together right. If I rember correctlly, the 1st overdrive position was a little faster then 3rd. It definetly made it a better tractor, but we were in the hills, and it did not have the power to make a hill in 3rd overdrive with a wagon load of ear corn. The pulley and PTO run too fast in overdrive to be of any use. Delbert from Lincoln

I have the unit installed in the tranmission that went fine. What I am asking about is the front yoke that connects the engine to the overdrive unit. On my original non-overdrive yoke, a keyway attaches the yoke to the shaft. Now on the Hiesler unit the input shaft has a 6 splined 1 3/8" shaft. So my original yoke will not fit onto the Hiesler overdrive. I am looking for help here on locating a yoke that fits onto this input shaft. I was wondering if I will have to fabricate this yoke of if a F-14 yoke is different that a F-12"s? The overdrive has F-14 written on it! Thanks for Your help!

The F-12 and F-14 overdrives were different, but I don't know how they differed. Since the back fit in, maybe the yoke is the difference.

By the way, they were available in 2 different ratios, the same 2 ratios for F-12 and F-14.
