Last night I stumbled across a NH 849 hydraulic tie that appears to really be in good shape.

It has three compression springs on each side and all I can see wrong with the old baler is that it has had one door hinge welded on.

No floor chains and the chain appears to be only about 4 feet wide? Does this thing only bale a 4 foot bale? Is this the baler you have?

Thanks,

Allan

Hi Casey,

This one obviously has been sheded; it is just a real old baler is all. But, for some reason, it seems narrow to me.

Wonder if they made different widths of balers back then?

Mine is an 845, and it bales 5X5's. Didn't know that till the first year I started loading them on our semi to haul home. Darned things hung over both sides like my ex's waistline. They work for me, but I like the 4X5's for hauling. Big bales, but don't hang over the trailer. Later, Harley

Allen,

Has yours got the 3 tension springs? I know you said that you didn't like the tightness of your bales.

Do you have to "bump" that PTO to nudge the bales out?

Dunno for sure, but I might be able to buy this one at salvage 'cause it is settin' out on killer row. The old heifer looks to be pretty darned good tho. Just an old chainer.
