Allen,

Are you flooded out yet? Had about 7 inches here in the last two weeks and expecting 1-3 in the next 24 hours. The old saying “If the good Lord is willing and creek don’t rise” is taking on a whole new meaning since most creeks are on the rise! We get much more rain and the road I use to get out will be under water! I might need to get the C out to wade through it!

Water is still beter than dust blowing around :>)

The only thing I can tell you is we have done something to wizz off either mother nature or somthing here in NY where I live. We have not seen a 1/4" of rain in probly 6 weeks now. They split right over us . No Money on the straw berries this year the Rasberries wont likely be big enough to sell either. I can keep up with the garden with pond water but the corn, soy and Hay is reling on the moistur in the humid air and the little sprinkles we get here in there not usally enough to wet the porch and is dry in 5 to 10 mins. Were you in the area that got all the snow this winter? Just wondering because here we were in a “snow drought” from Nov to Mar getting about 3” of precipitation mostly in the form of rain and not snow, so some were grousing that we were going to have a dry summer. Every square foot of low spots were planted this spring. Now we have more water than we can use or need and the low spots are now duck habitat. Go figure…

In the last 3 years we have had really bad snow years this last winter was a little higher than normal but not much. Last year it rained so much here in April May and June I never had to buy water actually all summer we had good moisture. Enought where the farmer down the road had to replant a lot becuase of washouts. But this year I dont know they say there is a high pressure system stalled over us and we are in a drought and I will be buying water at the end of the week most likely. JON

Ken, We havent had anything like that here in Michigan, but we get .05" about every third day. Just enough so that it has taken me nearly 3 weeks to get the last 200 acres of soybeans planted, and I ain"t making a lick of progress. Everything that is in the ground looks good tho, so if I ever get that 4th and 5th dry day in a row, I"ll be in the pink. Its hard to wish for too much dry weather here as usually it gets so dry by mid June that by mid July this clay ground is like cement.

Got 2" this morning - first decent rain since the snow melted off - has been extremely dry here in northern Montcalm county. Oats are just beginning to show up, and sweet corn has been planted for over 2 weeks, and not yet up. Hay is at a standstill. All the rain has gone around us. this 2" is sure welcome.... Flood advisory PHOOEY - this'll never even raise the creek!

Been raining here in St Johns, Mi nearly daily for the last week. Been getting grass hay up with the sunshine in the day then rains at night. Got caught Friday/Sat no sunshine. Have two crops of soys coming up. What came up with soil moisture when planted first of May and what came up now it's rained on it. Today Arlene is dumping on us, about 1 1/2 - 2 inches. Now need some sunshine to make it grow.

This reminds me of the good old money days after WWII.

Rains came, life was good and money was made in the farming business. :>)
