What weight oil should I run in my rebuilt cub engine and how long should I run this weight oil before switching back to my regular weight (usually run 15-40 rotella). Thanks

GNB

I have always broken in my engines with straight 10-10W oil. I like to change it after the first 10 and 50 hours and then use oil and change per operators manual. I like the lighter oil because I believe it gets in between the mating surfaces easier and flows better to wash out any crud or metal filings as the engine “breaks in.”

I'll agree with capt on this one.. 10-10w or 20-20w oil. And no synthetic oil during break-in.

I would agree with 504 on which oil to use. I've seen a lot of postings on here when changing the oil in the Cub, the oil pump sometimes loses it prime and the engine doesn't have any oil pressure. Just keep a close eye on the pressure when restarting the engine after changing the oil and filter. Post back if you ever encounter this problem and don't run the engine. Hal

I would run the Rotella. Run it 5hr. and change it, then run it 10hr.and change it again. Then change as per the manual.
