hey guys, i have a 560 that runs good and strong, but the last six months i have used it sparingly. it wasn't even started up for 8 to9 weeks. now when i start it ,it runs smooth as ever, but won't throttel up, and after a couple of minutes it dies.like its starving for fuel. i blew out the fuel line to primary filter, from the tank , replaced fuel filters, blew thru return line, still does the same thing. that's the limit of my experience. any help will be greatly appreciated!!!! my schedule keeps me away from the computer untill late @ nite, so don't be offended by my slow responses, please. steve in tex

When I got my 560 I had a similar problem which was caused by the outlet of the fuel tank being plugged up with a fragment of teflon tape. The pump was starved because of the restricted flow and actually emptied the sediment bowl halfway before the engine shut off. I had to suck all the fuel out of a full tank and clean it out before I fixed the problem. I also replaced the return valve in the bottom of the tank too because it leaked. It is a spring load valve which can also plug. Many mechanics removed the plug to keep it from plugging.

I'm not very familiar with that model, but if it has a Roosa Master pump, it sounds like the plastic governor damper ring inside the pump has failed (they are originally clear, soft plastic, but get brittle from years of heat and diesel fuel exposure, and break up into little black chunks), and pieces of it are clogging the return fitting at the top of the injection pump.

A Roosa Master pump with a clogged return fitting (or other restriction in the return circuit) will act as you describe, ans shutdown shortly after startup.

Have you taken the sediment bowl off the bottom of the fuel tank and emptied the water out of it and cleaned the screen? If not it might be a place to check.

Thanks, Captaink, This tractor don't have a sediment bowl anymore, and I did blow back into the tank and checked the filter for water. Looking in the tank it looks pretty clean .

Steve,

Blowing back into the tank won't do any good. If you have a small piece of foreign matter in the tank (like Lance R. had suggested) it will simply temporarily displace it, until it settles down into the outlet hole again. You actually have to drain the entire tank and remove the line and then flush out the tank. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a very small piece of straw stuck in the tank outlet.
