Needing something more reliable than a pair of 10 year old 5000 watt Coleman's with the 10hp air cooled engines running at the same time. I trust the old SA for reliable dependability. This winter I overhauled it, bearings, & rebuilt head. I used the 3-1/8" high compression aluminum pistons & sleeves. I gained a little displacement, and HP, & it runs smooth & smoke free now. It has all the power I need for the Woods L-59 I use under it, in 3rd gear. The question is, what size PTO generator can it handle? I don't know how much HP it's putting out now, I'm sure I gained a little. Thought about a 13,000-15,000 watt generator, but don't want to overload it or bogg it down. We need it every summer for a fireworks tent with about 50 light bulbs, drop light, and sign, and two or three times a year when power goes out at the house. Any Ideas?

I have turned a 25K 3 phase generator with a 140. I ran about 10k load and it was fine just make sure you don't turn everything on at once or both the tractor and generator will shake quite a bit.
In order to run at 540rpm the 140 was almost full throttle and it held under load.

Figure 2 HP per KW, so the range would be 10,000 watt to 13,000 watt generator.

A LITTLE big won't hurt as long as you don't LOAD the generator beyond what the engine can handle, and keep up to speed.

It's the LOAD that counts, not just the generator size.
