Have a Zenith carb #375560 R91/12613A on a late 1948 Model C. The parts catalog lists #355485 R91 as the gas Zenith carb, so this might not be original to the tractor. Maybe replaced when an overbore kit was installed - who knows...

Anyway, I have been looking for a rebuild kit with no luck. Checked all the usual suspects - Sam's, Carter & Grunewald, Weber's, OEM, YT, Restoration Supply, etc.; searched around for non-tractor carb supply houses with no luck. There are a few places that list this PN and offer complete replacements, but none I have found that specifically offer a rebuild kit. Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know the purpose of the sintered bronze plug on the bottom of the carb? It shows in one of the attached pictures, located right behind the choke plate? Thanks, Jeff

Thanks Hal. Got to keep my priorities straight. Have to go to New Hampshire for a week and find friends for these guys - then back to the tractor! Jeff

Try NAPA auto parts or send an email to carbkit@cox.net. This company rebuilds carburetors too. Hal

Near as I can tell, that carb is on page 36 of the C parts book, it is a 161 X 7, even though it does not match your part number. The package for it is on the bottom of page 39, the package itself may be NLA, but many of the parts are still available. That is the same carb I have on my 1950 C, I don't think the specific IH part number matters, as many of the parts interchange between different models. You need to soak that carb for a long time and then blow the passages out with compressed air, as it has a lot of crud. The plug you refer to is a cap for the main jet. The dist/kero versions have an adjustment screw in that position. Remove the cap when you soak it.

Thanks CNKS. Guess I'll order one of the 161X7 kits and see what shows up. Yes, this is a pretty cruddy carb. It was starting to give trouble when I decided to rebuild the whole tractor. I see the cap screw that covers the main jet - the bronze plug I was wondering about is closer to the choke plate. When you look at the inside there is a small hole at the center of the plug, but it doesn't go through to the outside of the carb.

I believe that's the "weep hole" for the carb--don't know if that's available or not. All IH carbs will drip from that place when flooded.
