Can anyone tell me about this tractor? I am in the process of restoring it and really do not know where I need to start. Is this a rare tractor?

Don't quite know what you have. Is it a Farmall A or is it a Farmal AV?? If it is trully a 1950 model it would have to be either a Super A or a Super AV.

Check closer to see what you have and find the serial number. It will be under the seat on the left support. Then come back with what you find and the SN and we will be better able to answer your questions.

GOOD LUCK

This is what the tag says FAAV 292145 then under that it has 1540. Thanks for the input.

It's a 1950 Super AV, I would call it relatively rare, actual production numbers are not available, far as I know. It is the high crop version of the Super A, with larger diameter front and rear tires. Main difference, some say the ONLY difference between the A and Super A is that the Super A has hydraulics. Your tractor is well worth restoring. The 1540 is the maximun idle rpm.
