Is a 12 volt coil a "12 volt coil"?
What I mean is - is there anything special about the coil on my 350 that is specific to IH, or will any 12 volt coil work? I'm doing a re-wire and the threads are all but gone on one of the posts.
Thanks in advance...

Pretty much a coil is a coil, other then some need a resistor in line and some don't. If you get a true 12 volt coil you will not need a resistor. I've used a lot of coils on tractors that where the same ones from say a 1969 chev pickup.

Thanks old,
You know how it is now-a-days. The new stuff has some chip embedded into it and won't work umless the steering wheel is talking to the master cylinder through the onboard computer!!
I figured 1957 was a "safe" year to get away from all that!!

1957 is getting to old, that would have a 6 volt coil on it and then you would need a ballast resistor but a 1969 is 12 volt and no need for the resistor.

10-4...
Mine has the resistor on it - right by the coil.
Some previous owner converted it over to 12V. New lights, negative ground and all.

BTW - Going to look at an Oliver Super 88 at an auction this weekend. Hope it goes cheap!!
Thanks again...
