I have a IH 350 utility diesel and I"d like to overhaul engine but I can"t seem to come up with liner kit. Does anyone have any sources for this tractor?
Thanks,
Rick

I have checked every place that sells sleeve and piston kits and no one has any. Send an email to info@foleyengines.com: they handle Continental
engine parts. I sent them an email on Monday, but they never answered.

I think I would be looking for a replacement engine, there should be an engine that will fit that tractor. Most of the lettered tractors still have kits available. Hal

Do a search on this forum. This question has been asked before and someone told of a supplier I believe in Chicago. I wrote it down, because I have a 350U Diesel myself, but it's in the shop.

I believe I can get you all or nearly all of the parts you will need for the 350D engine. I am in the process of doing one myslelf. That said, I can tell you that you will almost certainly have to use used sleeves and they won't be cheap. I can't remember on the pistons themselves but everything else I was able to get from my parts supplier. Let me know if you would like me to look into it.
Thanks,
Tom J.

Here's a website for finding a store that sells Clevite sleeve kits. Hal

Being the cynical non-beleiver type, I checked Walts. They have no listing for either sleeve/piston/ring sets or complete overhaul kits for IH/ Farmall 350 diesel engines. I would have been surprised if they did.

RickB,
You are correct - sorry, I did not look as close as I should have, Did not mean to mislead anyone.
I'm almost positive I have seen those parts somewhere - let me look again...

Good luck. Parts for the diesel engines in 350s are extremely hard to come by. I don't know why nobody makes parts for those engines.

I wonder if the old Continental cylinder liners could be re-used by: 1) honing the cylinders, 2) having a major league cylinder re-chroming and 3) using slightly larger rings.

Anybody know what steel grade was used for cylinder liners? If it is available in block stock, one could always ante up and have a machine shop mill out new liners. If the shop had automated equipment they could knock out four cylinders in fairly short time but it would be expensive.

I would imagine its because far more gasoline/LP/Distillate 350/350U engines were sold than the Continental diesel. One of the problems that occur when a manufacturer buys an engine from someone else.In this case it was a stopgap until IHs own diesel could be used.
