Lee: Remove the starter, and take a look those rings are double sided and you can turn them. You may already have new. On splitting the tractor, I first drive wooden wedges under the front axle stops so the offset engine can pivot when you unbolt it. I then place a hardwood pallet under the front axle going to a point even with back of engine. I then use blocking on each side under the axle. I also block the back of engine under the oil pan. Yes, right under oil pan. I use a 2x10 for my top block under pan and place one of those gardeners knee pads between the 2x10 and pan. I then tie it front end to pallet with ratchet straps. I block the rear wheels, place a bottle jack under clutch housing and place a pallet jack in pallet. Jack the two in unison, unbolt the tractor and you can roll front where ever you wish. Works best if you remove steering wheel. This works excellent for rolling it back together. I can change a clutch in one of these in about 4 hours all by myself. I have use the same on a Farmall 560, again all by myself, just takes a bit longer. When you get to the flywheel, the ring gear is sweated on. If just turning it be careful not to use too much heat, and keep it uniform around the ring. To give you some idea, you can warm the ring enough in oven to put it back on. Some say you can warm it enough in hot water, don't know never tried it. That give you some idea how little heat this requires. Any more questions just shout. By the way a new ring gear will be under $50.
