I am betting that yours is a late model and ya have them funny multi colored plastic levers down by the floor . This one is best left to the dealer that has the anilizer to test as we can play the fifty questions and spend two weeks on her and still not find the problem . But just for a quock check check the orface it is down on the left rear frame under a plug -fitting what ever and a small pice of dirt, gskt flake can cause a problem . Get yourself a IT manual as it will show you and after that your on your owen.

TxJim There are two different hydraulic systems for the 986 so I would think people would need to know the year. I think they changed in 1981. But can't think why the earler models would act like that, because the only thing in common between the steering and hitch is the oil and filter, if the steering pump was weak and the hitch robed the steering of oil then you should loose brakes and TA. You might try and see if you do loose brakes and TA.
