Is ther any one out there that can help me with this problem. I have a Cub Cadet 149 with a 48" deck that I have put new blades on. The problem is, it still misses 2 strips of grass. Between the 2 outer blades from the center blade. When I had the deck off to replace the blades I checked the clearence between the blades and it was about 1/16". Any help? thanks Mark

My Cub Cadet with a 42" deck has about the same clearance between the center and outside blades. It doesn't skip.

I'm skeptical that you would even notice a skipper made by a 1/16 inch gap.

Are your blades sharp?

I thought about what you said about overlaping and yesthey do overlap being the center blade longer then the 2 outer ones and that center blade foward, so yes they do over lap. The blades are brand new and I just put them on on Sat. The deck in in good shape and the next thing I'm going to try is sand blasting and paint t5he underside. This mower has done this with the old blades and new ones thanks

Are you sure you have the cutting edge of the blade rotating in the right direction? Hal

Well after a little research and since I"m new to this tractor, I found the ID tag on the rear
2050047U43851. And the mower ID tag 482U1113.

Can any one tell me about this tractor?

My 42-inch rear discharge mower was made by Gilson and it never leaves a strip and the blades do not overlap. I went out and looked it over to make sure. I have a set of spare blades too and they're all the same length. I've had the mower for 30 years. Hal

You've got the wrong blades. They need to overlap, or you'll leave strips.
