Hey Folks, My last post questioned my 52 Cubs" lack of power, Well, Adjusted the gov and carb every which way but lose to no avail. Ran compressions tests to find that I had 110 psi (dry) or better to 120, 130 psi (wet) or better to 145 all the way down the line. I was very excited to find that the engine was in good shape, but still could not figure the loss of power UNTIL I got the wires for the 2nd and 3rd spark plugs confussed and tried them both ways. Turns out that the previous owner had the wires switched. She runs like a drag tractor now compared to the dog she was. ANYHOW, now that I won"t be parting her out, I was wondering about repair costs that you all have incurred while rebuilding the lifting mechanisms/pumps and the PTO guts. The lift tends to stick and/or be jumpy, and the PTO will not stay in gear when trying to use the 42 inch Woods deck. Mows beautifully for about 20 feet then jumps out of PTO gear (not running gear). BIG QUESTION... Will it cost me more to fix"er up than a playtoy is worth to me or should I sell it as is? What kind of costs can be associated with rebuilding the lift and PTO and can I do these jobs myself. (I have done several engine rebuilds, but have not messed with gearing or pumps.) Thanks, Noel
