I know several of you have already replaced the bearings and seals in the final drive on these tractors. Do any of you know the part numbers for the bearings and seals, and the best source for them? If so, I could go ahead and order them and have them ready when I tear it down.
Thanks very much
Lewis

The local Case-IH dealer is high on seals. I have a good bearing/seal dealer, the seal price is 60-80% that of Case-IH for exactly the same seal -- your location may differ.

Thanks for the good advice about the Case-IH dealers, but I am down in Mississippi, and the one that is closest to me in Aliceville, Al doesn't want to waste their time looking up parts for the old tractors. I sent them a list of items that I needed when I was rebuilding my brother's in law Super A. Their response was; they didn't stock any of the old tractor parts and didn't want to fool with ordering them. I think it had a lot to do with the parts guy that received my request. Can someone give me a specific dealer that can get me the parts?
Thanks

Any dealer can enter the numbers in his computer and get the parts from the nearest distribution center -- it really should not matter to him whether it is a 1950 Super A or a 2005 Case-International something or other--if he tells you otherwise, he is nuts. Perhaps he doesn't want to take the time to package and mail them to you. A listing of the actual numbers rather than the description is very helpful, if you don't have one, get a parts manual. Carter and Gruenewald is a CaseIH dealer in Wisconsin, they do a lot of mail order business. Call 966-327-6255 and tell them what you need. You will likely have it in a week, or less depending on the in-stock availablility.

Prefix for the toll free number is 866, not 966.

Lewis: I kind of figured you were going to tell us that. Some dealers are like that, don't want to be bothered unless you are laying down thousands of dollars. Your not the first guy to tell us that either.

I have been rather fortunate, lived in two locations in the past 10 years, and in both cases had CaseIH dealers quite fond of the old tractor parts business. The parts man I deal with currently, is himself a bit of an old tractor collector. He has a Farmall H and I was able to point him in the direction of a few items CaseIH no longer carry. The interesting part of this, is after moving here I could have gone to any one of 5 CaseIH dealers, all about equal distance from me. It was the old iron guys in the neighborhood who directed me on which one to pick. My advice is get acquainted with the old iron guys in your area. That CaseIH dealer that wants to be selective on his type of customer, aint going to be around long aynhow.

around here CNH cant be beat for bearings but sometimes you can beat them on seals if you have to run all over to find them then the cost works out about the same so i would say go to the dealer

Lewis: You can probably order them as for as good price from CaseIH as anywhere. You go in with model and serial number, it shouldn't be a problem. I really never shop elsewhere for new items.
