I have a rear axle mount sickle bar mower for a C and I want to put it on a Super C with the fast hitch. Does anybody have any idea of how i could do it or does anybody have any pictures that somebody has already done this? Thanks for any help.

If you are considering looking for a 2 pt. fast hitch mower instead of trying to convert what you have, one was listed this afternoon on EBay. It is item # 7537235867 and is located in Canton, PA, which is located in north east/central part of the state. The one on EBay is a model C-24-P from the picture. Looks in pretty good condition but make sure it comes with the front part of the PTO shaft and the hook-up to the right tractor axle with an axle clamp. I don't see the grass board but it may be off for inside storage. I have an operator's Manual if you need additional information.

I agree with wolfman. Look for a fast hitch mower made for the Super C. The correct model numbers of the two which where made are C-21-P and C-24-P. They are almost idential. I live in Missouri and they are quite common in these parts. I have a C-24-P that came with my Super C. These mowers came in 5, 6 or 7 foot sickle bar lengths. There is a custom hay making guy around here and he uses two of these mowers on Super C's for all their mowing. If you have to travel to pick one up a lightweight trailer will be fine. Try the wanted classifieds on this site and you might get lucky with a few choices to consider. Good luck.

Right after the axle mount mower came the fast hitch mower meant for the FH Super C, then 200, etc.; Model C-20 or something. The one Loren shows is the Model 100(I think)that is pitmanless-balanced head circa 230, 240. Back in the 60's we had an axle mount on a Super C; a fast hitch one on a FH Super C & a third FH mower for parts. Still have that frame in s.w. Pa. and the FH mower. However somewhere along the way the gearing was changed (probably when tractors had more rpm's) & switching old style mower to new FH frame might lead to a mower that doesn't turn at 540 rpm. I'd suggest finding a C-200 (or whatever) FH mower & use your old axle clamp mower for parts.

I just started to make the prongs so I am all set there but I don't think I could find an old junk bar because I am in northern New Hampshire. I think that by the picture Loren posted, the fast hitch bars and my axle mount sickle are built on a totally different frame. Thanks for the help I think that a little hillbilly fabrication will do the trick!)

Here's one I'm just getting around to making work.
Is the crossbar that the 2pt. hitch arms mount to on yours also? May be able to only swap the hitch arms that are mounted on that bar if you're lucky.

jostev: Charlie has a good idea. If you could find a fast hitch mower, really doesn't matter what condition other than frame. The mowing mechanism is very much the same on those old IH mowers thus you could with a bit of modification mount your mowing mechanism in the fast hitch frame. Worth looking at any how.

Jostev, IH made a fast hitch sickle bar mower, the only way I know that you could attach the mower you have is to find a couple of fast hitch points an weld them onto your mower you have now. Another way is to find would be to find an old junk fast hitch sickle bar mower an replace the parts with your mower. I am going out to my partners place today an work on a few tractors, will take a few pictures of a fast hitch sickle bar mower. Also remember that the prongs for fast hitches came in two different sizes, the smaller for the little tractors an the larger for the SH's, SM, 300's, 400's etc, help this helps - only my 3 cents I'm sure that other people can add to this
